Patient questions
What is regenerative medicine?
Regenerative medicine is an area of care focused on supporting the body's own healing response for joint and soft tissue concerns. At Zest, it is delivered under physician supervision after a medical evaluation.
Understanding this topic
Regenerative medicine is a broad area of care focused on supporting the body's natural repair processes rather than only masking symptoms. In a musculoskeletal setting, regenerative treatments may include platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and other biologically based approaches that are evaluated for conditions such as joint pain, tendon and ligament concerns, and soft tissue discomfort.
At Zest Regen Health, regenerative medicine is not offered as a one-size-fits-all product. The clinical team begins with a medical history, a physical examination, and appropriate diagnostic evaluation before recommending any treatment. Orthobiologics refers to biologically based treatments, such as PRP, used to support healing in joints and soft tissue.
Because these are elective medical treatments, candidacy is determined on an individual basis after an evaluation at the Columbia clinic. The clinic's regenerative program is delivered by a physician trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management, and interventional spine and joint care.
